Get the Distro version of your Linux

To determine the version of a linux OS, a command cat will be helpfull enough.
Here is the command:
#cat /proc/version
Linux version 2.6.18-4-amd64 (Debian 2.6.18.dfsg.1-12) (waldi@debian.org)
(gcc version 4.1.2 20061115 (prerelease)
(Debian 4.1.1-21)) #1 SMP Mon Mar 26 11:36:53 CEST 2007
